Waterproof properties of the component the resistance of a fabric to water pressure is measured by the height of a column of water in mm (test based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the pressure, the more the fabric is waterproof. A component with a waterproof measure of 2000mm withstands the pressure of 2000mm of water (that is approximately equivalent to a 1-hour downpour.

Waterproof properties of the garment NOVADRY Technologies: This garment has been tested under a shower of 100 litres of water per hour per m² for 4 hours. This test reproduces the conditions of a severe mountain storm. For additional information see the Novadry.com website.

Breathability of the component to find out whether a fabric is breathable, the resistance of evaporation of a textile, RET (test based on the ISO 11092 standard) is used as a measure. The weaker the resistance, the greater the fabric's capacity to transfer the water vapour generated by the body through the fabric, thereby making it more breathable. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric / 920 = fabric that is slightly or not breathable.

Breathability of the garment in addition to the breathability of the fabrics used, Quechua develops technical solutions (zips, ventilations, mesh sections...) which improve the overall ventilation of all its jackets designed for long hiking use.

Water-resistance of the component the water-resistance of a fabric is its capacity to allow water to glide over its surface, without absorbing it. The textile therefore does not become soaked with wateer and remains lightweight, breathable and warm. Water-resistance is obtained by applying a coating to the exterior of the fabric. This coating will need to be renewed during the garment's lifespan (on average after 2-3 washes). You will find these products in our stores. All Quechua jackets are water-resistant coated.

Test Product
Quechua is based at the foot of Mont-Blanc, in Haute-Savoie (France). All year round, our design teams create and develop products that are beautiful, simple, and technologically advanced. These are then ruthlessly tested in the field in collaboration with our technical partners and mountain professionals. We remain convinced that only through rigorous testing under real world conditions, like the ones you will be using them in, can we continue to provide you with better products than ever.
Care instructions:
Machine-wash at 30°C. Use a liquid washing detergent and do not use softener. Close all zips and riptapes before washing. Renew the water-resistance of your garment by using a suitable coating every 2-3 washes. A full range of products specially designed to treat waterproof and breathable fabrics is available in all Decathlon stores. Using these products will optimise the performance of your garment and ensure that it lasts longer.
